The challenge
Release throughput was a bottleneck. Four releases a year couldn’t keep pace with the roadmap, and the validation needed for connected-car features — including multilingual voice-command testing — was slow and largely manual. The program needed far more frequent, reliable releases without trading away the rigor a regulated environment demands.
What Stephan did
Led the engineering organization through a release and test-automation transformation. Built out connected-car and multilingual voice-command test automation at production scale, restructured the release process, and secured $1.5M in additional funding plus a dedicated U.S. backend to remove the throughput ceiling.
The outcome
Releases scaled from 4 to 26 per year. Throughput rose from 28 to 54. Release cycle time dropped 30%, and feature timelines were cut by up to six months — without loosening validation discipline.
